Want some fun and inexpensive things to do in the North Georgia Mountains? Head up to the Blue Ridge Mountains and enjoy your fall break in the vibrant colors, crisp air, and peaceful scenery of North Georgia. Only a little over an hour from Atlanta, Ellijay and Blue Ridge feature so many festive options, you can make a long weekend or a full vacation out of the trip!

The perfect place to stay during your fall fun is at The Villas at Coosawattee River Resort, which offers very affordable accommodations within close proximity of the apple farms, pumpkin patches, hayrides, and corn maze. The Villa’s cabins, villas, A-frames, and multi-unit are one, two, and three bedroom, some of which feature hot tubs, lofts, river views, and mountain scenes. The Villas is located inside the Coosawattee River Resort off of GA Highway 382 and features 300+ miles of rambling roads to enjoy all the kaleidoscope patterns of fall foliage. For more information about the resort: http://www.thevillasatcoosawattee.com or email info@thevillasatcoosawattee.com

Now off to the local flavor: the top apple farm that makes our list is Hillcrest Orchards. Hillcrest Orchards is located along ‘apple farm alley’ and offers pick-your-fun. During the annual "Apple Pickin' Jubilee", visitors can pick their own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, visit the petting farm, take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands & cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. A giant slide and jumping pillow add extra fun for the kids! And before leaving, make sure to gather a bag of crisp apples to take with you! Hillcrest Orchards is located off of Highway 52 E. For more information about the orchard: http://www.hillcrestorchards.net/

Just minutes down the road from Hillcrest is the best pumpkin patch around: Burt’s Farm. One of the most impressive features of Burt’s farm is the vast array of pumpkin types, winter squash, gourds and fall decorations. Indian corn, cornstalks and hay bales are also in never-ending supply. Don't forget to check the "barn" store for Burt’s fresh baked pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll, candied popcorn and a whole assortment of other goodies. From 75 N, Burt’s is located 1/2 mile on your right from the highway 183/52 intersection on highway 52. For more information about the farm: http://www.burtsfarm.com/

Hayrides are offered at Hillcrest Orchards and Burt’s Farm. The Hillcrest ride winds you through the vast apple farm fields and gives you a peaceful tour. Burt’s Farm offers hayrides pulled by John Deere tractors that take you through a winding trail filled with nature and beauty. So, whether you are visiting an apple farm or pumpkin patch, take some time to enjoy a hay-ride and soak up some mountain scenery and fresh air.

For the corn maze of all corn mazes in North Georgia, you have to try out Reece Corn Maze which is conveniently across from Hillcrest Orchards and minutes from Burt’s Farm on “apple farm alley”. The maze is within a 7 ½ acre field with green corn 12 feet high! This year’s theme is a cowboy with his horse kneeling at the foot of a cross. Daily wagon rides and horse-back riding through the corn maze are also featured, with ring riding for kids. Also make sure to picnic by the creek bank, relax next to the campfire, and roast some marshmallows.

Come and be part of the lively atmosphere of spectacular North Georgia! You’ll gather as many happy memories as apples. Enjoy the colorful pumpkin patches, winding hayrides, and adventurous corn mazes. Don't forget all the extras that come along with the trip, such as The Villas’ 300 miles rambling roads with kaleidoscope patterns of fallen leaves, the Apple Pickin’ Jubilee at Hillcrest, and the fresh baked goods at Burt’s. Looking for a fall festival? Georgia Apple Festival 2010 and Hotel, Motel Lodging

The 2010 Georgia Apple Festival is held in Ellijay, Georgia on the Lions Club Fairgrounds on the weekends of October 9th / 10th and October 16th / 17th. Come on out to Ellijay, Georgia this October and commemorate the heroic apple! Enjoy the mountain air, fun times, and fall festivities. To top it off, stay at The Villas at Coosawattee River Resort and enjoy the resort with all its amenities as well as its close proximity to the Apple Festival. Father's Day Gift Ideas for Dad

Father's Day gift-shoppers are urged to step away from that necktie and select a distinctive testosterone-fueled gift for your father: a relaxing, invigorating, and custom-made getaway in the Coosawattee River Resort. Whether Dad prefers to tube or kayak in down the river, cast a fishing line into the fishing pond, hike through the wooded mountains, have some recreational fun, or all of the above, The Villas at Coosawattee has a gift combination designed to get Dad’s sense of adventure revved-up.

Nothing says "Blue Ridge Mountains" like a cabin or villa in the mountains by the river. Although Dad and his entourage will have all the conveniences of home - plus a few unexpected luxuries – The Villas vacation rentals give the look and feel of being off in the vast wilderness. Scenic surroundings, mountain views and native wildlife are just some of what Dad can expect to see.:

1. After checking into his cabin, Dad and gang can head off to the Eagle Mountain General Store outside of the Eagle Mountain Gate for a fun-filled 2-1/2 hour inner tube float down the Coosawattee River. Floating down the river is a great way to reduce stress and enjoy the peace and serenity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or if kayaking is more his style, Dad can reserve a kayaking trip that lasts 1-1/2 hours and includes equipment and shuttle to and from the river. Also located at The General Store is the Monster Water Slide, which is the worlds tallest inflatable water slide. We dare you not to scream!

2. If Dad is more traditional, a day of kicked-back fishing might be his style. Nothing could be better than a relaxing day on the water surrounded by all of the peace and tranquility of nature. The sun on his shoulders, it's a Dad's dream come true! The Fishing Pond is full stocked and free of charge—you don’t even need a fishing license!

3. How about starting a Father’s Day tradition of an annual hike? Breakfast in bed and the traditional giving of the gifts are Dad pleasers-- but maybe what he REALLY wants is a little quality time out on the trail. Throw in a waterfall, a wildflower or two, and you'll make his day! The Blue Ridge Mountains are the perfect spot to start your Father’s Day tradition. Make sure to take some pictures to commemorate the occasion and add to the Father’s Day Hike photos through the years.

4. Maybe Dad wants more of a ‘spa day’ filled with a dip in a heated pool, working-out his muscles, and some recreational sports. The Villa’s has just that for him! He can enjoy the heated Junior Olympic-sized pool and the Fitness Center which is complete with treadmills, weight machines, free weights, rowing machine, and exercise bikes. He and his entourage can challenge themselves in the Game Room with arcade games, pool tables, ping pong table, and an air hockey machine. The Recreation Center features tennis courts, 18-hole miniature golf course, and a basketball court.

So how about that gift!? Picture Dad and his entourage nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a cabin or villa at a resort for a weekend filled with all the things Dad loves—tubing / kayaking down the river, fishing in the pond, hiking thorough the wooded mountains, and having fun at the Recreation Center.
