Take Spring Break in the North Georgia Mountains

Hit the road and have some fun in the North Georgia Mountains this spring break! With an abundance of budget friendly things to do, the North Georgia Mountains is the perfect destination for spring time adventure. Whether you’re looking for some outdoor activities or a bit of relaxation, we have some fantastic and fun-tastic ideas!

Just a short drive from Atlanta or Chattanooga, The Villas at Coosawattee is the perfect spring break hub! Let all of your spring fun originate from your resort accommodations nestled in the middle of the gorgeous springtime mountains. This resort overflows with amenities, river parks, and activity with large rentals … and get this… ALL AT HOTEL PRICES! Yes, for the cost of a reasonably priced hotel room, you can stay at a resort and take advantage of the extensive facilities. The units vary from one to three bedroom with different options such as fireplaces, hot tubs, and lofts: http://thevillasatcoosawattee.com/accommodations.htm

The kids will have a blast at Fishtrap Park playground, meandering over the suspension bridge, and exploring the Coosawattee River. Visit the Recreation Center for relaxation and rejuvenation or to tap into your competitive and adventurous side. With activities ranging from the heated indoor pool and fitness center to tennis courts, a fun-tastic arcade, and miniature golf, the center has a little of something for everyone. And reconnecting with nature has never been easier with fishing ponds, walking trails, picnic & cook-out facilities featured at six peaceful River Parks throughout the property. The surrounding area outside of the resort is also chock-full of adventure:

+ Build an Ark right outside of The Villas at Coosawattee’s Eagle Mountain gate is a barn bustling with a menagerie of rescued animals. Everyone will get a kick out of the critters and their tour of the ark.

+ Just a short drive from the resort is Cherokee Valley Ranch where tubing, tobogganing, horseback riding, zip-lines, and waterfall hayrides are featured on the majestic ranch. The fast and exciting tubing and tobogganing is on year-round dry “snow” and the horseback riding is suitable for all experience levels. And the hayride tours the ranch, culminating in a fireside cowboy lunch or dinner at a secluded campsite.

+ A day at The Alley Family Bowling Center will have the kids bowling, bouncing on inflatables, and playing laser tag. The center has a snack bar, Build-a-Bear store, and arcade games too.

+Need some more family fun? Gilmer Golf and Games offers a challenging game of miniature golf over moguls, between rocks, and through water hazards. Waterfalls, rushing streams, and goldfish ponds accent the course. Take a whirl in the batting cages too.

For more of the relaxing side to spring:

+ Golfing in North Georgia is ever popular at Whitepath Golf Course. Whitepath offers breathtaking scenery from elevated tees overlooking 18 lush fairways and medium-sized greens. A trout stream and four lakes come into play, and abundant wildlife including deer, quail and turkey can be observed throughout the course.

+ Or perhaps an afternoon of live music and wine tasting is more your preference. Cartecay Vineyards features The Tasting Barn which is a refurbished circa 1890s barn and sits on the same site as when it was first constructed. The vineyards are open Thursday through Sunday with live performances to compliment their good wine.

+ And a trip to the day spa is wonderfully restful and rejuvenating option. Spectra Hair Creations and Dayspa is located off the circle of Ellijay and features massage, skin care and waxing, nail care, and so much more.

With so many vast and varied activities in such a beautiful location, the North Georgia Mountains is THE place to head this spring. To find The Villas at Cooswattee, travel approximately 75 miles north of Atlanta or 70 miles south of Chattanooga off of Highway 515 in Ellijay. Turn onto Old State Route 5 and then take a right towards Historic Downtown Ellijay. Travel for approximately 4 miles and take a left onto GA Hwy 382 / Green’s Country Store. Travel up the hill for .6 miles and take a right into the main entrance of The Coosawattee River Resort. Father's Day Gift Ideas for Dad

Father's Day gift-shoppers are urged to step away from that necktie and select a distinctive testosterone-fueled gift for your father: a relaxing, invigorating, and custom-made getaway in the Coosawattee River Resort. Whether Dad prefers to tube or kayak in down the river, cast a fishing line into the fishing pond, hike through the wooded mountains, have some recreational fun, or all of the above, The Villas at Coosawattee has a gift combination designed to get Dad’s sense of adventure revved-up.

Nothing says "Blue Ridge Mountains" like a cabin or villa in the mountains by the river. Although Dad and his entourage will have all the conveniences of home - plus a few unexpected luxuries – The Villas vacation rentals give the look and feel of being off in the vast wilderness. Scenic surroundings, mountain views and native wildlife are just some of what Dad can expect to see.:

1. After checking into his cabin, Dad and gang can head off to the Eagle Mountain General Store outside of the Eagle Mountain Gate for a fun-filled 2-1/2 hour inner tube float down the Coosawattee River. Floating down the river is a great way to reduce stress and enjoy the peace and serenity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or if kayaking is more his style, Dad can reserve a kayaking trip that lasts 1-1/2 hours and includes equipment and shuttle to and from the river. Also located at The General Store is the Monster Water Slide, which is the worlds tallest inflatable water slide. We dare you not to scream!

2. If Dad is more traditional, a day of kicked-back fishing might be his style. Nothing could be better than a relaxing day on the water surrounded by all of the peace and tranquility of nature. The sun on his shoulders, it's a Dad's dream come true! The Fishing Pond is full stocked and free of charge—you don’t even need a fishing license!

3. How about starting a Father’s Day tradition of an annual hike? Breakfast in bed and the traditional giving of the gifts are Dad pleasers-- but maybe what he REALLY wants is a little quality time out on the trail. Throw in a waterfall, a wildflower or two, and you'll make his day! The Blue Ridge Mountains are the perfect spot to start your Father’s Day tradition. Make sure to take some pictures to commemorate the occasion and add to the Father’s Day Hike photos through the years.

4. Maybe Dad wants more of a ‘spa day’ filled with a dip in a heated pool, working-out his muscles, and some recreational sports. The Villa’s has just that for him! He can enjoy the heated Junior Olympic-sized pool and the Fitness Center which is complete with treadmills, weight machines, free weights, rowing machine, and exercise bikes. He and his entourage can challenge themselves in the Game Room with arcade games, pool tables, ping pong table, and an air hockey machine. The Recreation Center features tennis courts, 18-hole miniature golf course, and a basketball court.

So how about that gift!? Picture Dad and his entourage nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a cabin or villa at a resort for a weekend filled with all the things Dad loves—tubing / kayaking down the river, fishing in the pond, hiking thorough the wooded mountains, and having fun at the Recreation Center.
