Georgia River Tubing, Pickin on the Porch, and Mountain Cabins

Summer wouldn’t be complete without a lazy float in a tube down the river. And what better way to spend your Fourth of July than splashing around in the sweet sunshine! Create a sparkling day by tubing down the Coosawattee River and building banner memories for the entire group. And spend more than a day by renting one of The Villas at Coosawattee’s quaint cabins starting around $85 per night where you can swim in one of the three pools, listen live music at ‘Pickin’ on the Porch’, craft s’mores around a campfire, and munch from The General Store’s summer menu.

So where can you find the best place to take a tubing excursion? The Coosawattee River Tubing Company is the place! Just an hour north of Atlanta, GA and just an hour south of Chattanooga, TN, an entertaining 2-1/2 hour inner tube float down the Coosawattee River is waiting for you and your entourage.

In free-floating tubing, the tube riders are un-tethered and conveyed by the current of the river. Tubers paddle with their hands to steer, or groups of tubers can rope their tubes together creating a large floating group. Tubes used for free-floating were true inner tubes, but the customized tubes used at The Coosawattee River Tubing Company offer comfort and ease of use. These tubes are donut-shaped to allow the rider to sit comfortably on their back across the top of the tube while sitting into the center.

The Coosawattee River Tubing Company furnishes the tube, life vest, shuttle service to and from the river, and changing rooms for an admission price of $15 per person (group rates are available). Although reservations are not mandatory, trips fill-up quickly so availability inquiry and reservation(s) are strongly advised. Please note that children must be at least 5 years of age. A waiver must be signed and submitted prior to the tubing excursion. To save time, please read the rules and regulations and then print & sign the waiver prior to coming on the tubing trip.

The season has already started and runs through October. The tubing and kayaking schedule is:
  • Seven days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day
  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Labor Day  through October 1st
Oh! And check this out! Your  adventure is not over when your tubing ends. Visit  The General Store at Eagle Mountain for  breakfast (starting at 7am) and for the summer menu lunch. Also The General Store features ‘Pickin' on the Porch’ which is scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Saturday night of each month (weather permitting), with a variety of local entertainment and music from gospel to blue grass to Old Time Rock 'n' Roll. During ‘Pickin’ on the Porch’,  The General Store is open  for your dining and munching convenience. Bring your own lawn chair, pull up your seat next to the bon-fire, and roast some marshmallows while enjoying the entertainment and mountain ambiance!
