New Holiday Traditions
Take a holiday in the mountains and bond with those surrounding you in a new way. Fill the days with strolls in the woods, a little fishing, leaf peeping around the resort, and soaking in nature at its finest. Use some time to explore the resort’s Recreation Center filled with multiple activities such as indoor swimming, tennis, miniature golf, arcade games, and more.

Then take a day to cut your own Christmas tree at one of the many Christmas tree farms in the North Georgia Mountains, such as Lowery’s Tree Farm, Whisenant Mountain Farm, and Jones Tree Farm. The event offers a delightful experience for one and all, and starts the holiday season off with a time to remember!

Make plans to participate in the Turkey Trot on November 27, 2014. Just north of Ellijay in Blue Ridge, The Blue Ridge Turkey Trot is a family event, enjoyed by all ages and abilities. From mom and dad pushing infants in strollers to the very competitive athletes, all enjoy a fun time together to kick off the Thanksgiving day. Whether walking, jogging, or running,  this event is one-of-a-kind. The race starts at the Downtown Park on Main Street on Thanksgiving Day, November the 28th, 8:00 A.M. for a 5K race/walk. Registration begins at 7:00am and the 5K run begins at 8:00am. Contact Barry Greenleaf at (727) 458-8556.

Spending Thanksgiving away from home doesn’t mean that you are obligated to eat at a hotel buffet. Use the accommodation’s full kitchen to whip-up your Thanksgiving feast. Several groceries stores are nearby to stock up your fridge and cupboards. Or bring your feast with you and store until turkey day. What a treat just to reheat!

Maybe forgoing all the fuss of cooking is more appealing for you. Pick-up your feast from one of the many restaurants in the Ellijay and East Ellijay areas, such as Charlie’s Italian Restaurant, Davis House Restaurant, or Cantaberry Restaurant. The Blue Ridge CafĂ© is also offering an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving Buffet (434) 985-3633 that is sure to fill your belly with all sorts of delicious and traditional holiday fare. Another option is to have gourmet dining in your resort lodging by contacting Cabin Cuisine. Let Cabin Cuisine prepare an exquisite meal—which allows everyone to be free of cooking and cleaning and to enjoy the memorable time in the mountains.  (706) 633-3138
